Wayne Brown Institute to Host Special “How to Raise Money in Utah” Seminar February 8th


“How to Raise Money in Utah” seminar to include technology showcase by Utah’s Universities and the Centers of Excellence Program


[ClickPress, Mon Feb 05 2007] In an effort to help Utah entrepreneurs raise capital for their businesses, the Wayne Brown Institute (WBI) today announced it will hold a special “How to Raise Money in Utah” seminar on Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 12:00 to 4:15 p.m. at the Sheraton City Centre in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The February event will begin with a luncheon panel where experts will discuss “Trends in LP Investing in Venture Funds.” Featured topics for the afternoon panels include “Cleantech–Environmental Technology Investing” and “Finding Your First Dollar–Trends in Angel and Venture Investing.”

Presenters and panel members will represent companies such as 5AM Ventures, American River Ventures, H2Oil, Hamilton BioVentures, Highway 12 Ventures, Mitsubishi Int’l, Transparient, Salt Lake Life Science Angels, Utah Funds of Funds and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

As a special closing to the afternoon’s events, Utah’s Universities and the Centers of Excellence Program will present 22 leading technologies being developed in the state of Utah.

“More than 250 venture professionals will be attending and participating in our February ‘How to Raise Money in Utah’ seminar,” said Brad Bertoch, president and CEO of WBI. “We recognize the success of these events is a direct reflection of the speakers and the companies who are willing to contribute their time and experience with the state’s rising entrepreneurs.”

Sponsors for the two-hour seminar include the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (www.goed.utah.gov), Manufacturing Extension Partnership (www.mep.org), NASDAQ (www.nasdaq.com) and Utah Division of Securities (www.utah.securities.gov).

A $50.00 registration fee will give participants full access to the afternoon presentations and the panel luncheon at noon.
