HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Honours 211 UAE National Graduates at ENDP Graduation Ceremony

The young Emiratis have been absorbed in the private sector following preparatory courses

[ClickPress, Tue Feb 06 2007] HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Executive Council of Dubai, today honoured 211 young UAE nationals at a graduation ceremony held by the Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP).

The graduates, who successfully completed a professional preparatory ENDP training course, have been absorbed by companies in the private sector, as part of their commitment to Emiratisation.

The impressive ceremony was attended by H.E. Ahmad Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ENDP, Azza Al Sharhan, Director of ENDP, and over 500 leading businessmen and CEOs from the private sector.

Al Tayer said: “Last year, we challenged ourselves to meet the targets spelt out in the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as part of a national movement to build partnerships with private sector companies for boosting recruitment of UAE nationals.

“Our efforts also involved introducing unemployed job-seeking UAE nationals to career opportunities available in the private sector. This opened new doors for learning, personal and professional growth and gaining experience, and thus contribute to the overall economic development of the UAE.”

HH Sheikh Hamdan congratulated the graduates and praised their commitment to acquiring knowledge and professional skills to take up jobs in the private sector.

HH Sheikh Hamdan also commended Jumeirah Group, Al Futtaim Group, Mashreq Bank and Citibank for offering continued support to programmes aimed at providing employment opportunities for UAE nationals.

Azzah Al Sharhan, Director of ENDP, while thanking HH Sheikh Hamdan for his support, said His Highness’ presence at the ceremony would go a long way in encouraging the students to put in extra efforts to prove themselves in the competitive private sector job market.

“Emiratisation calls for sustained efforts to train and groom young Emiratis for jobs in the private sector,” said Al Sharhan. “ENDP is working on different fronts to support national efforts to raise the ratio of UAE nationals in the private sector. Today’s ceremony marks an important milestone in this mission.”

Al Sharhan also expressed her gratitude to the private sector companies that have supported the partnership initiative that is committed to providing UAE nationals with skills necessary for a fruitful career in the private sector.
