UK-based Tribal Planet has launched the Tribal Planet Harmonica Company to bring to the market its Planetone Harmonicas.
Tribal Planet, best known for its innovative gig bags, has been working with the Jimi Hendrix of harmonicas, America’s Johnny Mars, to come up with designs that will revolutionise the market.
The Planetone range includes 19 harmonicas including Blues, Tremolo, Octave, and Chromatic, which makes a full presentation and competes with the traditional manufacturers in the market.
The whole range has been enhanced from the standard traditional product and improves functionality and styling. All Tribal Planet brass reed plates feature nickel or chrome plating which will enhance the harmonica’s lifespan and prevent corrosion.
The harmonicas were designed at Tribal Planet’s headquarters in the North East of England and are being produced in China.
David Wright, Director of International Sales at Tribal Planet, said the new range is attractive to harmonica players of all abilities.
He said: “There is a demand in the market for an improved harmonica and Tribal Planet has spent the last three years developing this exciting new range which will fill that void.
“We are bringing to the market a full range of harmonicas that suits both beginners and serious players.
“We know that the beginner has a much better chance of learning with a better quality instrument and we expect to grow the market by converting more starters into serious players.

Directors David Wright and Philip Sutcliffe set tribal Planet up four years ago.
Mr Sutcliffe was managing director for Hohner UK for nine years while Mr Wright worked as sales manager and product specialist for Hohner for 11 years.
They set up Tribal Planet to bring design excellence to the music industry and to offer consumers a better choice. They soon revolutionised the guitar gig bag by offering bags with extra protection and versatility for all types of players.
Their bags have been so successful that Tribal Planet is now among the first choice in gig bags across the world.
Mr Wright said: “We expect the Tribal Planet Harmonica Company to follow the success of Tribal Planet and soon the name will be known, not only for revolutionising guitar bags, but for also for revolutionising the Harmonica market.”
