Next Generation Entrepreneurs vie for $10,000 Prize and Bid to MOOT
[ClickPress, Thu Feb 22 2007] For the third year in a row, Cincom Systems will host the 2007 UC Spirit of Enterprise MBA Business Plan Competition, an invitational forum for the next generation of entrepreneurs to "road test" their new venture concepts. Initiated by the University of Cincinnati Center for Entrepreneurship Education and Research (E-Center), the competition will be held on Friday, February 23.
“Cincom Systems’ World Headquarters is a great venue in which to compete, and it gives students a chance to learn about global business from one of the great entrepreneurial success stories in the software industry, Tom Nies,” said Dr. Charles Matthews, director, UC E-Center.
The following student teams will compete: DePaul University, Loyola Marymount University, Northern Kentucky University, Pepperdine University, University of Cincinnati, University of Georgia, University of Illinois-Chicago, University of Louisville, University of Manitoba (Canada), and University of Oregon.
$10,000, Plus Bid to the Super Bowl of World Business-Plan Competitions
The Cincom Spirit of Enterprise Champions will receive $10,000 from Cincom and an automatic bid to the 2007 MOOT Corp Competition also called "The Super Bowl of World Business-Plan Competitions." Held at the University of Texas, Austin, MOOT CORP is the original intercollegiate new-venture competition offering the largest guaranteed prize of any student contest in the world. Prize money will also be awarded to the second and third-place winners and to the recipient of the best technology plan.
Elevator Pitch on Wheels!
Teams not advancing to finals enter the UC taxi/limo round. The 10-minute ride mirrors a chance encounter with a potential angel investor. The top team that convinces the investor of their business plan’s viability before the ride comes to a halt will also be awarded a cash prize.
