Karting is a superb idea to help keep kids off the streets in the UK!
Go Karting for under 16s is fast becoming a popular activity and helping to keep the kids of Essex off the streets!
[ClickPress, Wed Feb 28 2007] All over the UK, Local Authorities are constantly searching for ideas and inspiration that will give the youngsters in their area some form of recreational activity, discouraging them from hanging around street corners and shop fronts.
A phenomenal number of well-equipped Karting Circuits operate in the UK, at such levels that it is highly likely you are not too far from one in your area.
Almost all the circuits offer a good value and easily accessible package, run in a safe environment, usually called ‘Park And Drive’.
These great packages allow participants to arrive at the circuit, after prior notice and booking, and experience the thrills of this amazing motorsport.
An array of time slots are available, making this kind of package ideal as an introduction to Karting as an after school event.
A wide range of skills and disciplines can be improved or added to your child’s all round personality, including the essential ability to negotiate different obstacles by being prepared to change approach.
All safety equipment, including overalls, gloves and helmets are provided, along with expert tuition. Almost all sites in the UK have specially modified Karts that cater for the driving needs of the under 16 rider.
A high percentage of children who try the sport for the first time then take it up on a regular basis, often meeting new friends by joining teams and entering competitions.
Carl Deane, 14, from Essex, went along to his local circuit, after his Mother booked him a half-hour session. He now takes part in Karting up to three times a month and has joined a local under-15 team.
“My Mum booked the first session for me, because I’d complained to her that I was bored. I was soon completely hooked, and now it’s a regular thing that I do. I’ve even introduced quite a few of mates to it as well,” said Carl.
His Mother became concerned that he was coming home from school and then having nothing much to do in the evenings.
“He’d basically do his homework then go stand out on the street for a few hours. It was obvious he needed something to occupy him after school,” recall Carl’s mum, Belinda.
Both Carl and Belinda were surprised that there was a Karting Circuit near to their homes in Thurrock, Essex.
“Here in Essex, we’ve got two superb courses, one in Thurrock and one in Brentwood. We’ve regularly visited both and the facilities are excellent,” said Belinda.
If you’re a worried parent, looking for something to facilitate your kids for a few hours, then Karting could well be the perfect activity to keep them from habitually hanging around on street corners. Prices are competitive, with a high percentage of sites offering discounted rates, both for under 16’s and also for session arranged through the week.
A relieved Belinda Deane is glad that she acted when she did and arranged something for her son.
“It got to the stage where I hated driving past the local shops, because I knew Carl would be stood around there with his friends. It was clear they all needed an activity to do. I’m so pleased that I took the initiative. Carl now has an interesting hobby and some new friends.”
