TAVIRA THE HOTTEST PLACE TO BE ON THE ALGARVE

The Algarve is a well-known property hot spot, but a property development in the quiet historic town of Tavira is a rare event for an area set within a national nature reserve, says independent property investment adviser Denis Sullivan.

Mr Sullivan said,
"With prices from 201,300 Euros, the development is a rare opportunity to acquire a home and investment property in an area where development is carefully controlled.

Tavira is an ancient Roman Port dating back to around 2,000 BC, nestled at the estuary of the River Gilão and close to miles of sandy beaches. Once occupied by the Moors, it is one of the most architecturally attractive towns in the Algarve, but 30 km away from the traditional tourist coast between Faro and Lagos.

With a population of only 20,000, the 37 churches and fine 18th century buildings reflect the rebuilding of the town after most of its buildings were all virtually destroyed by the earthquake of 1755. The town was re-captured from the Moors in 1242.

Temperatures for the year average 24 degrees in summer and 15 degrees in winter. The region benefits from 150km of beaches along which the warm African winds blow - providing endless opportunities for sports such as horse riding, walking, diving, tennis and golf.

One of the nearby golf courses was designed by Sir Henry Cotton and lies just outside Tavira offering views of the mountains to one side and the sea to the other. It really is a golfer’s paradise!"

Work on the gated development - which consists of approx. 50 2 and 3 bedroom condominium- style apartments on the edge of the old town has begun. It is 200m metres from the town centre and 10 minutes from the beaches and golf courses. Each apartment will have underground parking and there is a gym, swimming pool and landscaped gardens.

A reservation fee of £2,000 and a 30% deposit is required within one month. Mortgages are readily available subject to status.
