QTEL Global and Megacom announce agreement to build WiMAX Network in Peru
QTEL Global Networks Ltd (“QTEL” or “QTEL Global”), a market leader in the provision of national wireless broadband networks to emerging markets, today announces it has signed an agreement with Megacom Corp, the parent company of Compañía Telefónica Andina S.A. (Teleandina) of Peru to design and deploy a country-wide WiMax network across Peru.
[ClickPress, Fri Mar 02 2007] QTEL Global Networks Ltd (“QTEL” or “QTEL Global”), a market leader in the provision of national wireless broadband networks to emerging markets, today announces it has signed an agreement with Megacom Corp, the parent company of Compañía Telefónica Andina S.A. (Teleandina) of Peru to design and deploy a country-wide WiMax network across Peru. The network will be designed to deliver secure VPN, Internet and VoIP to commercial, government and residential communities across Peru and will be commercialized through a partnership between both companies.
The first two phases of the national roll-out will be deployed in Peru’s capital city, Lima, which has a population of over 8 million - Megacom holding 20-year government concessions for International and Domestic Long Distance, Local Carrier Services, and Local Telephony in Lima through its filial Teleandina.
By selecting QTEL, Megacom will be able to deliver new and innovative Internet access, VoIP and multimedia services to its customers with greater speed.

Under the terms of the agreement the joint venture will be owned 49% by QTel Global Networks Ltd, 49% by Megacom Corp and 2% by Epsom Investment Services N.V.
