Cincom Systems’ SUPRA PDM 2.5 for OpenVMS Now Available for Upgrade

Corporate clients of Cincom Systems’ SUPRA® PDM for OpenVMS can now upgrade to its latest version (2.5.00) released today.

[ClickPress, Wed Mar 07 2007] Corporate clients of Cincom Systems’ SUPRA® PDM for OpenVMS can now upgrade to its latest version (2.5.00) released today. Supra PDM is a hierarchical database management system that provides access to data through a physical data manager (PDM), which manages the data structures of the physical files that store the data.

Under OpenVMS, SUPRA PDM runs as a multi-threaded, detached process. Multi-threading allows numerous applications to use the PDM at the same time and leads to the most efficient use of system resources. Running the PDM as a detached process results in smaller application programs thereby saving on disk space and memory.

Some of the major benefits of SUPRA PDM for OpenVMS include:

•Multiple file-type support
•Active schema (database) maintainability
•Storage optimization
•Recoverability
•Multiple ways to access data

Major new features provided with the new release include:

•Relational Access to SUPRA PDM data
•SUPRA PDM dataset buffers are now allocated in 64-bit address space on Alpha and Itanium servers
•The maximum number of copies of a single SUPRA dataset buffer has been increased from 32,767 to 65,535
•SUPRA PDM MAXTASKS limit has been increased from 1000 to 2000
•Email notification of error messages
•Support for OpenVMS on Itanium
