The PC has evolved into the PCE

With the intent on proving computing should be easy, cheap and mobile. Pinkerton Consulting developed the "Portable Computing Environment"

[ClickPress, Mon Mar 19 2007] Pinkerton Consulting is set to release a device that will change the way the portable computer is perceived, a device called the Portable Computing Environment or “PCE” that contains the user’s entire computer environment that can be booted up on any USB bootable host worldwide.
All for the cost of a blank USB drive.

This brilliant innovation combines existing technologies with simple yet effective functionality to transform the standard USB flash drive into the hub of computing requirements.

By shrinking all of the expensive software components (for example the operating system and office products) the user can now take their computer, their settings, their files, their programs anywhere.

Housed in a standard USB flash drive or silicone wristband (for the fashion savvy) the product is available in 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB capacities.

The host computer will not be affected, all of the required systems will boot from the portable USB drive, and utilise only the host computers CPU and other relevant hardware.
