Karting In Taunton And Somerset

A championship winning under 16's cricket team are rewarded for their efforts with a high octane karting race at Paintball Guide Karting's first class Exeter Karting track.

[ClickPress, Mon Mar 19 2007] Taunton, home of the Somerset cricket team, is also home to Gary Obhold and his championship winning Under 16’s cricket team. Team manager for Gary’s team, Frank Simpson, had been looking for a way to reward them for their endeavours when he came across a website called Paintball Guide Karting that offered Karting events all over the UK. “We had tied up the cricket title that weekend and I wanted some way to congratualate the lads, and I saw that Paintball Guide Karting had a circuit not far from here in Exeter and it looked excellent, so, I booked a Grand Prix Elite race for the team and once I told them about it they couldn’t wait to get down there,” explains Simpson of his actions.

Paintball Guide Karting offer tracks spanning the UK but their karting circuit in Exeter is considered to be one of the best in the region. Marketing Directot for Paintball Guide Karting, Robert Goodliffe, explains, “We offer karting tracks all over the South West of England but our circuit in Exeter is undoubtedly one of our most popular! It’s not really surprising when you consider it offers a 280 metre track and top of the range karts that can reach speeds of 40 MPH!” Karting has had a massive surge in popularity in Taunton and all over the South West and Goodliffe thinks he knows why this is the case, “The standard of circuits in the South West has risen massively in recent years and our Exeter karting venue is a prime example of this. It has top class facilities and offers brilliant race events that always leave the karters satisfied!”

As for Gary and the rest of his cricket team, it turned out that the wicket keeper, Neil Alexander, was a bit of a dark horse where karting was concerned, “Neil was hopeless in the qualifying heats, I think he was even at the back of the grid, but somehow he managed to be the first past the chequered flag…cheating has yet to be ruled out!” explains Gary of his team’s excellent day of karting, “the circuit was amazing and none of us could believe just how fast the karts were! On the straights, we definitely knocking on 40 MPH and, trust me, when you’re only a few inches above the floor, it feels an awful lot faster!”

Karting in Taunton and Somerset is now one of the region’s most popular activity pursuits and this is undoubtedly as a result of the sheer wealth of karting tracks available. “We have over 10 circuits in the South West region and we are opening more all the time as karting is proving such a massive hit with Somerset residents and those all over the South West,” explains Paintball Guide Karting Director, Goodliffe of the abundance of options to karters in the region.
