MOBILE HEALTHCARE BECOMES A REALITY

Pearl Medical announces new range of mobile communications services to support healthcare professionals.

[ClickPress, Tue Mar 20 2007] Pearl Medical, the mobile communications service provider for the healthcare sector, has today announced the expansion of its service to all healthcare professionals. In addition, its growing partnerships with Orange and EMIS will enable it to deliver unrivalled mobile communications solutions for the healthcare sector.

Established in early 2006 as a service supplying mobile devices exclusively to General Practitioners, it is now expanding its mobile services to all healthcare professionals. Through its partnerships with Orange, the total communications provider, and EMIS, the UK’s leading IT supplier to primary healthcare, it will be introducing new preferential talk plans, mobile devices and medical applications, available as bespoke packages to all those working in healthcare in the UK.

Philip May, co-founder and Director of Pearl Medical, said: “Pearl Medical is the largest community of GPs using mobile devices to aid their professional and personal lives. We are working with Orange and EMIS to offer all healthcare professionals the best possible bundled services to get healthcare moving and make practitioners more mobile. We want to make mobile communications more accessible to healthcare workers and we want to offer services that meet their needs, from one single point of purchase.”

This year will also see the launch of the first in a series of new applications - patient records accessible on mobile devices. Pearl Medical, in partnership with EMIS, has made it possible for EMIS users to view unlimited, secure practice patient records no matter where they are – a huge step forward in delivering healthcare services outside of the confines of the doctors’ surgery.

“We have seen significant growth in a very short space of time,” Philip May continued. “With these partnerships in place, we can deliver the first truly specialised service built around the needs of those working in the health arena. The Pearl team has extensive knowledge of healthcare and mobile communications, all of which enables us to be the best and only mobile service provider exclusively for the healthcare sector.”

Sam Sandercock, Head of Channel Sales, Orange Business Services, said: “We have been partners with Pearl Medical from the start and are very excited to continue working together as their offering expands to meet the needs of the wider healthcare sector. Pearl Medical’s experience of establishing the first mobile community of GPs has proved that it has the ability and expertise to deliver solid, reliable and relevant services that healthcare professionals believe in.”

You can see Pearl Medical at HC2007, the largest health informatics conference in Europe, 19-21 March in Harrogate. Pearl Medical is sponsoring the EMIS Interoperability Village and will be demonstrating its new range of devices.
