#1 Amateur Tour In America Set To Tee Up In The Alamo City For 3rd Event
Golf Galaxy Tour of San Antonio sets the pace for the 2007 Season
[ClickPress, Thu Mar 22 2007] The Golf Galaxy Tour has been nationally recognized at the #1 Amateur Golf Tour in the United States, operating over 60 tours throughout the country. Texas is fortunate to have 4 Tours within the state: San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and Dallas/Ft. Worth.
The San Antonio Tour has completed 2 of its scheduled 10 events for the year. Houston has had 1 of 9; with the Austin and Dallas/Ft. Worth tours teeing it up in May 2007.
The local Callaway Golf-sponsored Golf Galaxy Golf Tour held the second of 10 scheduled events of the 2007 season this past Saturday at Olympia Hills Golf and Conference Center, in Universal City, TX.
After hosting 48 players in February at the Golf Club of Texas in less than desirable conditions, the 32-player field was presented with much fairer conditions. Full Tournament results can be viewed on the Tour website, www.MissionCityGolfTour.com.
The San Antonio Tour chapter is part of the largest network of amateur golf tournaments in the United States, operating in 60+ cities in 2007. The tour is sponsored by Golf Galaxy, Callaway Golf, PGA Tour Partners and Golf Magazine and is designed to give golfers the opportunity to participate in tournament golf on great local golf courses. San Antonio area Tour Director Tony Vaught is excited about the growth of the tour. "For golfers that score in the 90's, 80's or 70's and who are looking for fun, friendly competition, this is a perfect fit. Our tour offers 2-person team formats which are a great way to build camaraderie with friends and other local golfers. There are no mandatory membership fees or dues, you don't need a handicap, tournaments are played on weekends, and it's very affordable. On top of that, you can win great prizes." Vaught said.
All tournaments are two-person team events played on Saturdays with either a best-ball or scramble format. Tournaments and are open to all men, women, and juniors who normally score 95 or less for 18 holes. Players receive Merchandise payouts (in the form of Golf Galaxy gift certificates), 50 percent of the field share more than $1,000 in prizes (with full-field) per event, and a year long Derby Points contest crowns a "Player of the Year" at the end of the season.
