Technology: Real-Time Fleet Management From BCP

Real-Time Fleet Management From BCP

In partnership with Siemens VDO Automotive, the world leader of on-board information systems, and utilizing Google Earth, BCP adapts solutions for wireless fleet management for petroleum, public works, and trucking industries.

[ClickPress, Thu Mar 22 2007] The VDO Communicator is installed in each vehicle and manages the fleets, regardless of position, by recording and tracking vehicles and route statistics in real time. BCP’s web module harnesses the mapping power of Google Earth, allowing fleet managers to view fleet data on a web browser without needing to install or update additional software, and can be integrated into a client’s standing software for working offline. Online or offline, fleet managers can access activity reports, statistic, summary tables, and more. This solution works in three key areas: locating, assessing, and anticipating/optimizing.

Locating

Locating and following each vehicle at any moment, visualizing on the web interface its precise geographic position, measuring its time of activity, its driving time, the distance covered according to the required itinerary, intervention, if necessary, on the travel .

Assessing

Analyzing and measuring the costs of vehicle travel, knowing the real time of operation, engine hours, level of gas, and alerts if vehicle is operated outside timetables and predefined areas, detecting impacts or any incident on the travel, etc.

Anticipating and optimizing

Planning the maintenance for each vehicle: automatic warning of servicing required and other operations to optimize the management of the entire fleet. Planning the organization of the teams, their travel sheets, and the history of all the operation. BCP can interface any software application specific to each client.

Within the last ten years, the company has acquired a solid reputation in France and North Africa for its customized solutions, and now is represented in the United States. These solutions are currently used in the petroleum industry by Halliburton, Schlumberger, M-I SWACO, and Weatherford to optimize the “real-time” management of their fleets, among other companies in other industries. BCP’s clients have significantly improved their productivity, increased their speed of execution, and reduced their operating costs.

About BCP:

BCP was created in 1997 to meet the needs of the Compagnies Pétrolières Algériennes in terms of spare parts for trucks (among others: axles and gearboxes — BCP is also a distributor for Eaton Fuller). Ten years after its creation, BCP has become a key partner of major oil companies and has broadened its markets to companies working in construction. Already more than 1,000 vehicles are equipped with the Siemens VDO/BCP systems. The company is now part of the Groupe Boulogne & Huard (Turnover 2006: $62 million; 70 employees).

In order to be closer to the decision making centers of the major oil companies, BCP is now present in the USA as of this year, supported by partners who are well established in the oil industry: Sirex Ltd. in New York and Houston Procurement International in Houston.
