SUTTON FOLK FESTIVAL BOOST FOR NCH

This year’s Sutton Coldfield Folk Festival, held from 15-18 February, was a fundraising success for children’s charity NCH – with over £1200 raised for its local work with vulnerable and excluded children and teenagers.

[ClickPress, Fri Mar 23 2007] This year’s Sutton Coldfield Folk Festival, held from 15-18 February, was a fundraising success for children’s charity NCH – with over £1200 raised for its local work with vulnerable and excluded children and teenagers.

The money boosts NCH’s West Midlands Every Child Matters Appeal, which is focusing on issues including poverty, disability and abuse, and aims to raise £300,000 for NCH’s local services. These services include Sutton’s Tudor Close, a centre that provides support for children with disabilities.

Over 50 acts performed music, singing, dancing and drama at the annual event, held in Sutton’s town centre. A sponsored walk was also held in Sutton park.

Elinor Martin, NCH Regional Fundraising Officer, said: “Organiser Bob Lines, the artists and the audience all deserve a big thank you. Over the past five years the Sutton Folk Festival has now raised over £10,000 for our work. Nationally NCH works with more children and teenagers than any other charity, and support like this makes a tremendous difference to what we can achieve.”
