MobileAware Boosts Mobile Enterprise Application Performance With ExpressQ 4.3
MobileAware ExpressQ 4.3 Delivers Enhanced Security, Device Support and New Performance Monitoring Features
[ClickPress, Tue Mar 27 2007] MobileAware, the world’s leading provider of Mobile Service Infrastructure, today announced an enhanced version of its core mobile messaging product, ExpressQ. ExpressQ 4.3 incorporates a host of new features, including improved security through FIPS 140-2 validated encryption, improved support for Windows Mobile 5.0 devices and new performance monitoring tools to enable enterprises to extend critical corporate information to mobile users better than ever before. ExpressQ 4.3 builds on years of deployments by some of the world’s leading companies across a variety of industries, including Atlas Air, The Automobile Association (AA), Boeing, British Gas, Bell South, London Ambulance, Pepsi Bottling Group, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Schindler Elevator.
The AA uses ExpressQ as a key component of its award-winning Mobile Technology Infrastructure (MTI). MTI is at the heart of the AA’s job allocation process, dispatching the company’s 3,000 patrols to over 4.5 million emergency breakdowns per year. MTI is currently meeting all of the AA’s Key Performance Indicators with, on average, 98% of messages delivered to patrols within 15 seconds.
“Maintaining constant communication between roadside patrols and our dispatch center is critical to our business,” says Nick Floros, Solutions Architect at the AA. “ExpressQ’s guaranteed message delivery, together with the product’s ability to seamlessly switch between different wireless networks, in our case GPRS and GSM, ensures that our business runs 24x7. All this adds up to significant operational cost savings, compared with our old private radio network, while at the same time delivering a more reliable and effective service to our members.”
“Mobile workforce applications directly attributable to millions of dollars worth of cost savings, revenue increases and productivity enhancements are powered by ExpressQ every day,” commented Brian Kinane, Chief Strategy Officer at MobileAware. “Continuing to boost the performance and reliability of our products is critical to our customers’ success, and this latest release of ExpressQ demonstrates our commitment to helping customers gain even more of an edge from their mobile enterprise deployments. It provides all the security, scalability and device support features for companies looking to rapidly mobilize their workforces.”
ExpressQ 4.3 Features
Enhanced Security Through FIPS 140-2 Validated Encryption
The encryption of over-the-air session data between ExpressQ mobile clients and the ExpressQ server has been enhanced to include the latest technology from Certicom Corporation, validated by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to be compliant to the FIPS 140-2 specification. ExpressQ offers wireless-optimized AES encryption based on this FIPS 140-2 validated technology. In addition, it provides optional integration with LDAP-based authentication, enabling highly-secure communication between the mobile client and server.
Improved Windows Mobile 5.0 Device Support
ExpressQ 4.3 features enhanced support for Windows Mobile 5.0 devices, including improved performance and network roaming support and Microsoft Mobile2Market code signing. ExpressQ 4.3 also includes the ability to ‘wake up’ Windows Mobile devices that have gone into suspend mode during a network session, by sending an SMS text message to the device. This allows data to be pushed from the server with little or no polling from the mobile side to keep network sessions alive, a feature that reduces network bandwidth consumption and maximizes battery life.
New Performance Monitoring Tools
ExpressQ 4.3 provides new performance monitoring tools that allow for better capacity planning and faster resolution of system problems. Server-side statistics can be collected, analysed and audited for application level tracking, trouble-shooting or reconciliation with network usage data. ExpressQ 4.3 also enables the generation of alerts to significant system events, such as component failure, to allow system problems to be solved quickly.
ExpressQ 4.3 Platform and Device Support
- ExpressQ 4.3 Server is supported on Windows 2000 (SP4 and later) and Windows 2003 Server (SP1 and later).
- ExpressQ Client is supported on Windows XP (SP2 and later), including XP Tablet, as well as the PocketPC editions of Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0.
