Over 80 guests gathered to celebrate the launch of one of the few new Commercial Insurance Brokers in the UK – based in Birmingham. Among the guests were the Lord and Lady Mayoress of Birmingham, Councillor Mike Sharpe and his wife Thelma, together with the MP for Edgbaston, Gisela Stuart.

The celebration was held at the office of Southall Harries Commercial Insurance Brokers at Neville House on Hagley Road. Founders Matthew Southall, Marc Harries and Tony Baylis have over 60 years between them in the commercial insurance industry.

The formation of the new Company has created 9 new jobs and attracted over 300 clients from all parts of the Country. The launch has also created a stir in the industry where it represents a move against the trend towards consolidation into larger broking companies.

Director, Matthew Southall explains,
"We are one of the few new commercial insurance brokerages formed in recent years. New tough FSA rules make it more difficult for potential new companies. Many smaller companies have simply been swallowed up by larger competitors and we wanted to break that mould. We pride ourselves on the personal relationships we have and continue to develop with our clients.

We are also very proud of our local roots and wanted to use our new venture as an opportunity to put something back into the community. We are delighted therefore to have been able to base this Company in Birmingham.

Marc Harries thanked all the guests who attended for their support during the initial stages of the business, which is now nearly 6 months old.
