On 16th January 2011 Teacher’s Day is celebrated in Hua Hin and all around Thailand as a day for students to pay respect to their teachers and thank them for the many hours of hard work that goes into their education.

Typically in schools across the country pupils will bring in flowers and gifts for the teachers, which are given out at a special ceremony in the morning. It is common for students to bow at the feet of each teacher, which is seen as sign of deep respect in Thailand. Students then perform recitals and dances to entertain the teachers before normal classes are resumed.

Teachers in Thailand received a great deal of respect and are well regarded in each community. As well as teaching everyday subjects such as maths and English, teachers play a role in their students upbringing with manners and how to behave towards others an important part of what is also taught.

Many schools in the country will use the day as a holiday to give teachers time off which is likely to result in increased demand for cheap Hua Hin hotels as more people travel to the popular holiday destination.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "With Teacher’s Day used as a holiday for many people hotels in Hua Hin will be filling up with guests. Anyone planning on making a trip to the city should confirm places online before travelling."
