Adam Wilcox and Phil Burton enjoyed their first run in the new British GT VRS Motor Finance Ferrari 430.

[ClickPress, Sun Apr 08 2007] Adam Wilcox and Phil Burton enjoyed their first run in the new VRS Motor Finance Ferrari 430.

" We only got the car finished on Wednesday, and it was brand new going into the weekend, we were quickest in 2 of 3 the practice sessions on Friday but then were informed we had to increase the ride height for Saturday's event, it totally changed the car and we had to work again on finding a new set-up " Commented Adam.

Phil Burton in his first ever qualifying session in anything other than a Ferrari 360 went well, despite traffic, and he managed 9th Position in an impressive field of cars and drivers.

Adam Wilcox was hoping to take the top spot from old rival Tim Mullen, but couldn't get a clear lap in Qualifying and wasn't until the very last lap of his run that he managed to get 2nd spot and will line up on the front row for Monday's race. " I just got caught up car after car and by the time I had an almost clear lap the best of the tyres had gone ".

For the first round of the Championship Phil Burton would take the start and made good progress throughout his stint, and managed to get the VRS Motor Finance car upto 8th Place until the safety car came into force and Phil came into pit and hand the car over to Adam, however as the compulsory 45 second pit stop ticked away the seat belt got caught and wouldn't tighten properly so the team lost 15 seconds in the pits, rejoining in 12th place, he then made good progress and fought his way up to 6th place at the finish.

" It's shame about the pit stop, but that's a lesson learned now about the car, it won't happen again. On track the car was working well and if I hadn't got stuck behind a very wide Viper we would have been a further 15 seconds up the road and maybe fighting for a podium finish, the car is working really well and were all looking forward to a good race on Monday ".
