Grand National - Joes Edge, Point Barrow, Hedghunter & Numbersixvalverde To Fight For Win

Horse racing tipsters have Joes Edge, Point Barrow, Hedghunter and Numbersixvalverde as their picks for the big race at Aintree in the Grand National.

[ClickPress, Thu Apr 12 2007] The Grand National at Aintree is the most watched race in the world, not only that, its the most difficult to predict. Tipsters JumpingJockey.com (http://www.jumpingjockey.com) have narrowed down the field to help punters pick a winner.

There are some very useful trends and once taken into account, the JumpingJockey.com team have come up with the following ahead of the big race.

The following horses listed fit the profile of previous winners. Irish horses tend to win the Grand National, but a case can be made for a non Irish winner this year as they failed to dominate Cheltenham and on the first day if the Aintree festival, Irish results have been mixed with good results for French horses. This may change however by Saturday.

POINT BARROW (IRE)
SILVER BIRCH (IRE)
HOMER WELLS (IRE)
JACK HIGH (IRE)
JOES EDGE (IRE)

None Irish Contenders
KELAMI (FR)
LONGSHANKS

Both of the below have had very positive comments from their trainers, given that their trainers have one some 5 Grand national wins and just as many 2nds between them, we must respect their runners.

HEDGEHUNTER
IDLE TALK

Wheres the money going? The two listed fit the profile and not only that, the money suggests they are the best option also. Any money for Hedgehunter would be very interesting, given that he finished 2nd last year and won it before that, the current 14/1 looks like a good price.

JOES EDGE
POINT BARROW

How are proven Grand National runners shaping up?

HEDGEHUNTER - Trainer is very positive, Hedgehunter fails to fit winning profile on weight alone, he has ran with top weight before and come second by only 6 lengths (3 weeks after coming 2nd in the Cheltenham Gold Cup). He gave the winner over a stone in weight. There are only two at the head of the market for him to worry about, POINT BARROW and JOES EDGE (if the stats and money are to be beleived) who both have a winning profile.

NUMBERSIXVALVERDE – Trainer has concerns about the weight but his jockey is still very positive, his weight has been increased since his win last year. He only just fails to fit the winning profile (a profile which he had last year) due to weight. 11-1 is the highest weight for a winner in recent times, Numbersixvalverde is carrying 11-3, its a big ask statistically. He won last years race with a lot in hand so if running to the same level in terms of last years form, he potenitally can challenge Hedgehunter again.

In Summary, it looks like an open race this year, the two previous winners have a lot of class, the new contenders in Joes Edge and Point Barrow will need to prove themselves over the distance, if they dont, its most likely (based on the stats) that we'll see a non Irish winner, and of those both Kelami and Idle Talk seem the best in terms of winners profile and trainer comments.

As always, this race is extremely difficult to analyse, the advice from JumpingJockey.com is to have fun and bet in moderation. Their free tips for the entire race card will be available on their website at http://www.jumpingjockey.com, the tips will include lay and back tips as well as value bets and horses to monitor.
