[ClickPress, Mon Apr 16 2007] A revolutionary new training device, already proven throughout rugby clubs in the Republic of Ireland, is being launched to clubs across the UK for the first time following a successful trial with top flight Guinness Premiership club, Saracens.
The innovative Fitframe, developed by sports equipment specialist Teamhop, is a scientifically designed exercise frame that allows a range of exercises to be performed by multiple users, simultaneously.
The Fitframe, which is also used by Super 14 side the Canterbury Crusaders, is designed for use from the age of 17 up and is adjustable to allow for training use by both teenagers and adults. The completely mobile unit can be used both indoors and outdoors and is particularly beneficial where there are confined training facilities, because an entire team of 20+ people can exercise in an area no greater the 10 sq meters.
Whilst helping an individual develop their own strength and muscular endurance, reduce body fat and reduce the chances of sustaining injury whilst playing, the Fitframe has also proven in recent studies that by confining a team’s entire training regime in to the one physical environment, it can develop team performance, helping to improve cohesion, communication and boosting morale.
“The Fitframe is an ideal piece of equipment for a Rugby Club, it’s robust and mobile, meaning it can be continually left outside or easily moved to storage.” explains Teamhop’s Daniel Begley. “But perhaps most importantly is the competitive edge it can give a team. In recent times, greater emphasis has been placed in particular on the core stability and upper body strength of players. This means that no team can compete seriously without concentration on training of these vital player components and while gyms offer this on an individual basis, it is essential that such application is carefully monitored on a team basis to ensure that no one member gets left behind.”
“The Fitframe provides a strength and conditioning coach with a vehicle in which to implement gym based strength training to the pitch. Our philosophy at Saracens is to produce situations in training where our players are subject to the same type of stress they get on match-day” says Saracens RFC strength and conditioning coach, Nigel Ashley-Jones, who goes on to add “The attraction of the Fitframe, is the amount of variations it provides. We have utilised the Fitframe to combine strength movements and SAQ drills into the skills, team specifics, units or conditioning session, thus assisting in producing these specific types of situations.”
Made of high quality stainless steel, the Fitframe has undergone over 6 months of rigorous independent testing, including in excess of one million exercise repetitions, and in some case over 10 million per test, and has proven to those clubs that use it to be a safe, durable, long lasting piece of equipment for use indoors or outdoors.
