La Madia is the brainchild of Chef Jonathan Fox, who spent the past 20 years honing his skills and working with some of the most talented chefs and restaurateurs in the corporate world. Most recently, Fox worked at Brinker International as Chief Operating Officer for Maggiano's Little Italy, which, in just fifteen years, he helped expand from initial concept into a 35-unit chain with over $339 million in annual sales. Fox's resume also includes The 95th Restaurant and Le Francais; Executive Chef at Printer's Row Restaurant; Executive Chef at The Pump Room; and Founding Chef, Partner and Vice President of Papagus Greek Taverna.
Located in the heart of Chicago’s River North, La Madia is a 4,400 sq. ft. restaurant designed in collaboration with Aria Group Architects. A Contemporary design, La Madia features clean lines and warm textures of natural wood and stone. Soft, sophisticated lighting draws and directs guests to the featured wood burning oven and 13-foot glass-enclosed wine cellar. La Madia includes a 125-seat dinning room; a beautifully set private wine and pizza tasting room; semi private space for up to 35 people; and bar/lounge with seating for 25 people.
Under the culinary direction of Fox, La Madia’s menu has a distinct focus on pizza, with traditional, unique and unexpected creations featuring some of the finest and seasonal market offerings available. The menu will add breadth to the pizza focus with hand made pastas, risotto, and robust mini Paninis. Complementing the culinary fare is a sophisticated beverage menu featuring a global wine list including many wines offered by the glass and half glass.
Among the Antipasti and Salads are Foli Roasted Crackling Olives; Crispy Eggplant Chips; Pizza Fondue, Creamy Tomato Sauce; Oven Roasted Bruschetta, organic tomatoes. Salads consist of Organic Mixed Greens, Cucumber, Tomato and Herb Vinaigrette; Market Tomato, Homemade Mozzarella and Roast Peppers’ Baby Spinach, Crimini, Egg, Warm Pancetta Dressing; Pear, Arugula and Spicy Walnut Vinaigrette and Asparagus, Stone Ground Mustard Dressing.
In addition to daily specials, Pizza entrees include Classic Margherita, Tomato sauce with Homemade Mozzarella; Heavy Handed Pepperoni, mozzarella, finished with Truffle Oil and Torn Basil; Shaved Artichoke, reggiano parmesan and crispy garlic; La Madia’s Homemade Fennel Sausage, sweet peppers and vidalia onions; Gooey Four Cheese with mozzarella, provolone, parmesan and asiago; Spinach and Speck, toasted pine nuts and extra virgin olive oil; White Clams with sweet chili peppers, fresh herbs, and ricotta salata; Chicken Oreganata, spinach, smoked scamorza cheese; Parma Classic, mozzarella cheese, finished with arugula and parma prosciutto and Gorgonzola and Vin Santo Grapes.
Pastas and Risotto are also part of the menu including, Garganelli Pasta tossed with tomatoes and Basil; Straw and Hay Pasta, Chicken, and Marscapone Cream; Country Style Gnocchi, Fennel Sausage & Escarole and Risotto Superfino with English Peas and Pancetta.
Mini Panini’s Include, Wild Salmon Cucumber and Vodka Vinaigrette; Sausage and Sweet Pepper Bomber; Prosciutto di Parma and Watermelon; Herbed Chicken, Currant and Pine Nuts; Shaved Artichoke Slaw, Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette, Homemade Mozzarella, Peppers and Sea Salt and Italian Sub with Salami, Speck and Prosciutto di Parma.
As a choice of desserts are Homemade Gelato; Pomegranate and Chocflake Gelato; Sweet Apple Pie Neopolitan’ Chocolate Tortino and Fruit Ice in Prosecco.
The menu also includes a selection of Specialty Artisan Cheeses from around the world.
La Madia will be open for lunch and dinner, Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
