Geek to Geek Marketing Contest: Axosoft Puts $5,000 Up for Grabs
Axosoft has launched the world's first "Geek Marketing Contest," betting software geeks can come up with great marketing ideas.
[ClickPress, Thu Apr 19 2007] While “Geeks” in the software industry are given premium seats at the table when it’s time to discuss designing, coding, and debugging, they’re often overlooked when it comes to marketing discussions. Axosoft, a software development company whose tag line is “software for software development,” is running a contest to help disprove the notion that geeks can’t contribute to the marketing conversation.
“Anyone can enter this contest,” said Axosoft founder and CEO, Hamid Shojaee. “But,” he added, “we’re definitely gearing it toward the geeks in the crowd, because they don’t typically enter marketing contests and we believe they’re sitting on a wealth of great, creative marketing ideas they don’t necessarily even know they have yet. We sell our products to software developers and who better to tell us how to do that than software developers themselves?”

The Geek Marketing Contest is being run entirely through Shojaee’s blog. It was announced in an article available at http://www.axosoft.com/GeekMarketing. To participate, entrants must submit one or more comments to the blog article by May 15th. Each comment (entry) should include a marketing idea that could be used to promote Axosoft’s flagship product, OnTime 2007. All entries will be publicly viewable as soon as they are submitted.
“I’m going to pick a winner no later than June 20th,” said Shojaee. “The winner will get $5,000, and we will implement his or her winning idea to see how it pans out in the real world.”
