SurfControl Showcases Advanced Security Solutions at Infosecurity

Demonstrates ‘The Art of Security’ with a new appliance solution, and leading on-demand & software products

With emphasis on exhibiting customizable, multiple layers of security, SurfControl’s stand will include demonstrations of its latest on-demand, appliance and software products, underlining the company’s focus on delivering customizable, multiple layers of security for networks.

The SurfControl stand will also showcase the new SurfControl Web Filter Appliance. The new Appliance, available in summer 2007, features seamless integration with Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006 Standard Edition.

Web Filter Appliance delivers rich in-bound content filtering and user management functionality with simplicity of deployment, built into a single network protection solution.

SurfControl is also demonstrating the latest versions of SurfControl E-mail Filter, SurfControl Web Filter, SurfControl Mobile Filter, SurfControl RiskFilter and SurfControl WebDefense.

SurfControl E-mail Filter 5.5 offers increased visibility into messages and traffic with powerful search functionality and reporting capabilities. Providing enhanced in-bound content filtering functionality, SurfControl Web Filter 5.5 and SurfControl Mobile Filter 5.5 include integrated virus protection, as well as protocol filtering of peer-to-peer, instant message and streaming media applications. SurfControl RiskFilter 5.2 incorporates new security features including e-mail encryption and authentication, and includes integrated Web threat protection for enhanced filtering capability.

SurfControl has recently announced new versions of Virtual Control Agent (VCA), its neural network based dynamic categorisation agent. VCA is an added-value component to enhance SurfControl’s categorisation database, enabling categorisation even if a site is too new to be in the database.

Advances in neural network tuning and neural net training infrastructure have allowed SurfControl to produce new versions of Virtual Control Agent optimized for French, Italian, and English with significant improvements tuned to increase the effectiveness of all of its content categories.

SurfControl has also announced the development of SurfBayes, a next-generation Bayesian-inspired categorisation engine with greater accuracy at faster speeds than leading competitive solutions. Bayesian filtering is a popular mechanism to distinguish illegitimate spam email from legitimate email. SurfBayes provides content categorisation within a millisecond and at accuracies that beats competitors in side by side trials, and will be key to developing dynamic categorisation offerings in on-demand applications and others requiring ultra-low-latency such as ISPs and cellular carriers.

With version 2.0 of SurfControl WebDefense the introduction of NTLM transparent identification means that users can be identified for policy application and reporting without the need to login.
