[ClickPress, Mon Apr 30 2007] As part of the Fishing & Workboat 2007 trade show, the French national pavilion organised by UBIFRANCE (the French Agency for International Business Development) will showcase the best of French marine technology. Fishing and Workboat 2007, the leading European exhibition of commercial fishing and workboat technologies, will be held in Glasgow (in Scotland) between 24 and 26 May 2007.

UBIFRANCE invites French companies to promote their know-how at an event which is internationally recognised in the field of fishing and workboats. (The UBIFRANCE booth at the trade show will be H41 and C10 for Fishing and Workboats respectively.) France enjoys a high level of expertise in this field, and UBIFRANCE will be seeking to ensure that this expertise reaches a wider audience.

With the French pavilion, UBIFRANCE offers each French exhibitor the chance to achieve greater recognition through co-ordinated action, and to identify new business opportunities by sharing their experience with other companies present at the pavilion (and at the exhibition more generally).

ABLE, a supplier of fishing gear, will present its new monofilament long lines for deep and surface catching. The Monoline tub system has been used successfully since 2002 by bass, conger-eel and hake fisheries and is now used by 92% of French tuna boats that line-fish albacore. The strong and safe hauler allows the release of lines at high speed without twisting. Storage is instantaneous thanks to the Filehook, and hooks lines are automatically ready for baiting. Automatic release can be carried out with buoys and weights set as required. The ABLE Monoline tub system is fast, safe and easy to use, while allowing both quality and selective fishing.

The company also manufactures tuna boats from 25m to 90m and, in 2006, provided the complete hydraulic equipment needed for two 85-metre tuna vessels for French owner Cobrecaf. BOPP also supplied several tugboats owned by French company Les Abeilles with complete electronic equipment. Furthermore, the company won an order for eight boats to be delivered in 2007 and 2008 to French Group BOURBON–SURF. Ifremer, the French public institute for marine research, contributes, through studies and expert assessments, to the knowledge of the ocean and its resources, the monitoring of marine and coastal zones, and the sustainable development of maritime activities. To this end, it designs and operates observational, experimental and monitoring tools and facilities. Specifically, Ifremer manages the French ocean research fleet for the scientific community.
Ifremer will present DynamiT — a trawling simulation software package especially designed for trawl designers, net makers, fishing companies, research institutes and training organisations. Typical studies performed with DynamiT concern trawl gear understanding and optimisation (how to improve efficiency, to reduce impact on the seabed, etc.). The research institute will also present METRI, a project which allows free-of-charge access to Ifremer's testing facilities for some research teams through the European Specific Support Action project.

Organisers of the 7th International Professional Exhibition ITECH'MER LORIENT will attend the trade show to present the event, which will take place at the Exhibition Centre of Lorient (Brittany) from 25 to 27 October 2007.
