DirectRooms.com – Jim Bean Homegrown Music Festival organised in Wellington on 5 March 2011

Published: Mon Feb 21 2011

The Jim Bean Homegrown festival showcases bands and musicians from all around New Zealand, including a wide range of musical genres, such as rock, punk rock, pop, R&B, alternative country and folk.

This year’s Jim Beam line-up includes performances by 65 bands and concurrent shows using six separate stages. Some of the most prominent bands scheduled to take the stage in Wellington include Kidz in Space, The Feelers, Black River Drive, Maya and Vanya, the Phoenix Foundation, the Ruby Suns and Family Cactus.

But the Jim Bean Homegrown festival is not just about music, as guests are invited to explore the works of the country’s best graffiti artists, take in creative street performances, witness a break-dancing competition and experience meals from around the world, thanks to an international food market.

The concerts are taking place along Wellington’s waterfront and each participant will receive a bracelet to wear, after purchasing tickets, currently priced at NZ$95, not including any extra booking fees. Participants seeking to enjoy the bars set up in the food market will be asked to produce government-issued photo ID, to ensure that they are at least 18 years of age.

Some hotels Wellington located in close proximity to the venue include moderately priced, comfortable three star establishments, as well as economical hostel-style accommodation and even self-catering apartment-style options for those seeking reasonable prices and the most independence.
