GTi INTERNATIONAL: CAR CLUBS GET READY TO SUFFER

Herts Insurance Consultants (HIC) offers big prizes for winners of Wheel War One competition at GTi International, Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire June 16-17 2007

[ClickPress, Tue May 08 2007] Car owner’s clubs love a bit of friendly competition. But at GTi International there's going to be an extra edge to the rivalry. That's because insurance company HIC, which is sponsoring the club area, is organising the show’s first Wheel Wars. And in addition to making the opposition squeal, there's the chance for visitors to win big prizes for themselves and their clubs.

GTi International hosts its awesome gathering of VWs on June 16 –17, and as always the clubs will be a major focus. "It's great being involved in the club area at Inters, because there’s always such a great atmosphere," says HIC's Andy Morton. "The friendly rivalry, the banter. But we thought, 'it's so very nice, maybe too nice…. perhaps it's time to stir things up.' So we're letting the members show what they're really made of…"

Hence the Wheel Wars Pit Stop Challenge, where clubs race to change a set of wheels as fast as they can. After the heats there’ll be a grand final on Sunday afternoon where the top club will be crowned Pit Stop Champs.

The show organisers have invited also HIC to help run all the club games taking place during the weekend – including the tug of war, space hopper race, cracker eating and a penalty shoot out. “I guess they were impressed by our renowned sense of fair play,” admits Andy modestly. “That and the large wedge of sponsorship cash we gave them…”

But it's not all about having fun by rubbing the opposition’s nose in the mud: HIC is also offering prizes throughout the weekend. For example, on the HIC stand visitors can try their luck with “The Dice Of Fate”. Everyone brave enough to take part gets a prize – and there’s the chance to walk off with a fully-fledged Sat Nav system. Alongside the various individual prizes there will be team awards including discount packs that could be worth hundreds of pounds to clubs or their members.

“We’re open to ideas for more games – as long as they’re legal and no-one gets hurt,” says Andy Morton, “well, not too badly, anyway. If we use anyone’s ideas, they’ll get a prize, too.” Games ideas should be emailed to enquires@hertsinsurance.com

And if the games go as well as initial reaction suggests, can we expect a follow up in 2008? “Wheel War Too is a definite possibility,” says Andy. “Battles will have been won and lost this year, but the inter-club rivalry will go on. With luck, Wheel War One is just the start….”
