Ayrshire, Scotland, Wednesday 9 May 2007--Ayrshire estate agency Donald Ross has reported that it had a record year in 2006, with an impressive 20% increase in sales compared to 2005.

The firm has also started this year in robust style, with some properties selling for between 25% and 35% over the asking price within a week of first going on the market.

The firm’s success is no accident, as the sales team at Donald Ross work hard to ensure that all details - and photographs - pertaining to client’s homes reach the widest possible audience.

This is achieved in many ways.

At the Beresford Terrace office in Ayr, the latest technology offers clients a truly comprehensive service.

An integrated media screen constantly showcases properties to window shoppers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The firm also operates an SMS text message service for instant updates, as well as an easy to browse website providing all the useful information that clients need in order to move home, from removal companies, to painters and decorators.

In addition, Donald Ross is linked to what is widely regarded as the UK’s best national property sales website - www.rightmove.co.uk

Donald Ross director Steven Miller added: "Clients’ property details and progress of the sale are operated by our state-of-the-art computerised management system.

"Our constant aim is to provide a first-class market-leading service.

"And our high quality brochure presentation ensures that our clients’ properties are viewed in the best possible light.

"Most importantly, we are one of Ayrshire’s longest established independent estate agents, and our sales team has over 40 years of local knowledge and experience."

House prices in Ayrshire have been rising at a record rate in the past year.

The average price of a house in Ayr is now £171,417 - an increase of 22% over the average price a year ago of £140,411.

In Kilmarnock, the average price of a house now stands at £139,747, an increase of 19% over the figure a year ago of £117, 528.

Irvine’s current average house price stands at £125,599, 12% higher than last year’s figure of £112,160.

Steven Miller commented: "Overall, we feel that 2007 is going to be another strong year, albeit with a more moderate rate of growth.

"Researchers forecast that the UK property market will increase by 7% in 2007, with Scotland rising at a rate just below the UK average."
