It's Hi-de-Hi as Maplins comes to Ilfracombe

Holiday camp fever hits Ilfracombe, North Devon, from Thursday 24th to Saturday 26th May 2007 when Studio Theatre brings popular TV comedy Hi-de-Hi to the stage of the Landmark Theatre.

[ClickPress, Tue May 08 2007] Studio Theatre company members Lee Baxendale, Pamela Beecham, Mike Bennett, Larry Fabian, Julie Moore, Robbie Murray, Rod Vass, Sandi Wildash and Robert Zarywacz will be portraying the well-known favourite characters from the TV screen, including: diffident, intellectual Cambridge professor, Jeffrey Fairbrother; smouldering Welsh man-eater, Gladys Pugh; brash camp comic running every known fiddle, Ted Bovis; trainee comic always being thrown into the pool, Spike Dixon; and ‘I want to be a Yellowcoat’, Peggy Ollerenshaw.

There’s so much at stake at Maplins holiday camp during the summer season of 1959: Will Gladys get her hands on Jeffrey? Will Ted’s fiddles get found out? Will Spike ever dry out? Will ballroom dancing duo Yvonne and Barry foxtrot or trip up? Will Peggy escape Miss Cathcart’s wrath? Will Fred Quilly regain his jockey’s licence? And will Jeffrey ever manage to make the campers laugh?

There’s lots of laughter and audience participation in this hilarious show – written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, and directed by Anne Bacon – as well as singing and dancing from the Yellowcoats in their striking yellow blazers and white shorts.

Following its acclaimed performances of ‘Allo ‘Allo and Dad’s Army, Studio Theatre’s production of Hi-de-Hi promises great entertainment for all.
