GAZ MAKES NEXT INTERNATIONAL MOVE

GAZ International – responsible for leading the growth of the Russian commercial vehicle manufacturer, GAZ Group, outside the CIS, today announces the recruitment of Andy Carroll as Sales and Marketing Director.

[ClickPress, Wed May 09 2007] GAZ International – responsible for leading the growth of the Russian commercial vehicle manufacturer, GAZ Group, outside the CIS, today announces the recruitment of Andy Carroll as Sales and Marketing Director.

Andy has an impressive track record, having been responsible for GM Europe’s commercial vehicle sales from 1997 to 2000, and for the creation of the Daewoo/Chevrolet network in the UK following GM’s acquisition of Daewoo. He was also Chief Operating Officer of the internet car retailer OneSwoop from 2000 to 2002. He has a Masters Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Trinity Hall, Cambridge and an MBA from INSEAD.

GAZ International was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of GAZ Group in June 2006, tasked with the development of Group business outside the CIS through acquisition, joint venture, alliance and export of products from Russia to non-CIS markets. It acquired LDV, the specialist UK-based van manufacturer in July 2006, which it recently reported will return to profit this summer.

GAZ Group is the largest Russian producer of commercial vehicles and one of largest global producers of LCV and buses. The Group manufactures vehicles (vans, medium and heavy duty trucks and passenger cars), buses, road construction vehicles, diesel engines and fuel equipment. The consolidated 2006 sales were in excess of $US 4.6 billion, market capitalisation – about US $2.3 billion. The majority shareholder of the GAZ Group is Russian Machines holding.
