Over three days between 19th April and 21st April 2011, The Rideal Conference will be examining the new discussion points from within the industry and explaining how findings are being transferred for certain applications.

The event is being staged at the Cardiff School of Chemistry and the school itself is recognised internationally for its research. Recent findings to come out of the institution include how to synthesise new gold catalysts which can be used to protect the environment by reducing pollutants.

Catalysis is the way in which a catalyst affects how fast or slow a chemical reaction takes place while surface science is related to what happens between two interfaces such as when solids and liquids meet. The meeting will bring together the leading minds in these fields to share knowledge on how research can be applied for industrial benefits.

The conference is given its name from one of the country’s leading chemical scientists and the Chemical Society’s president, Sir Eric Rideal. With many respected speakers presenting at the meeting attendance is set to be high which will influence the number of rooms available at Cardiff hotels as people turn up for the forum.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Delegates may experience difficulties when trying to book hotels with such a large number of people set to attend so people are advised to book early to avoid any problems."
