Australian newsstand / newsagent software moves offshore

Australia software company Tower Systems is set to launch its specialist software for newsstands internationally following interest in Asian marketplaces.

[ClickPress, Wed May 16 2007] Australian software developed specifically for newsstands is set to serve similar businesses overseas.

Tower Systems has been approached to provide newspaper and magazine delivery and retail software in Asian countries including Thailand and Malaysia. Having resisted export opportunities for years, the 26 year old company is ready to build on its customer base.

"We currently provide software to over 1,400 newsstands (newsagents) in Australia to manage the home delivery and retail of newspapers, magazines and other products" commented Mark Fletcher, CEO of Tower Systems. "Publishers provide EDI links to our software and thereby help small business retailers save time in areas specific to newsstand operations."

The newsstand software manages the shelf life of product, special orders, home delivery and, most important, return for credit of unsold stock. A typical newsstand using the software will save between eight and twelve man-hours a week.

In addition to newsstand / newsagent specific facilities, the software also provides traditional point of sale and back office facilities.

"We are planning on appointing local representatives to ensure that our software is backed by local support in each country" commented Mr Fletcher.

Tower Systems was established in 1981. The company has offices in six Australian states as well as New Zealand and employs a team of software developers out of its Head Office based in Melbourne Australia.
