Being held on 2nd April 2011, the 9th Annual Kona Chocolate Festival and Symposium will be presenting a feast of chocolate where visitors can try everything from chocolate cake, sweets, desserts, bars, and even chocolate fountains. There’ll be enough chocolate on display and for people to taste to rival even Willa Wonka’s famous chocolate factory.
A competition will run as part of the festival where chocolatiers and chefs will be whipping up their best chocolate based dishes including desserts and appetizers in a bid to be crowned the show’s best chocolate maker. Judges will be evaluating creations on creativity and flavour and awarding prizes for the best savoury and sweet entries and there’ll also be prizes for amateur contestants taking part.
The event will also run a symposium on chocolate where tours will guide visitors around the local factories and cacao farms, for people to learn about how chocolate is made and hear expert advice on how to make their own chocolate recipes.
Visitors making their way from Brugge hotels will be heading to the King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel where the festival will run and in the evening a gala is being held at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa.
