A WINNING HAND FOR YOOMEDIA AS IT TAKES CONTROL OF POKERZONE CHANNEL

YooMedia plc, the AIM-listed interactive media, gaming and mobile entertainment group, has strengthened its position in the television-related gambling market, which is set to become a key sector following the implementation of the Gaming Act in September, by taking over day to day control of the Pokerzone television channel with immediate effect.

[ClickPress, Wed May 30 2007] YooMedia plc, the AIM-listed interactive media, gaming and mobile entertainment group, has strengthened its position in the television-related gambling market, which is set to become a key sector following the implementation of the Gaming Act in September, by taking over day to day control of the Pokerzone television channel with immediate effect.

The move comes after the Pokerzone channel’s original owners announced their withdrawal from the television market. YooMedia will supplement the channel’s existing poker-related programming with programming from its other gambling formats, including roulette. Pokerzone will continue to be broadcast on Sky Channel 843 whilst YooMedia’s suite of interactive gambling content will continue to be available by pressing the red button broadcast on the channel.

In recent years, Pokerzone has been one of the leading providers of casino and poker related television programming to over 16 million homes across Europe. The channel, which uses edit, office, play-out and live studio facilities at YooMedia’s Broadcast Centre at Wapping, will continue to be broadcast from there.

“The channel will continue to broadcast seamlessly and there will be no disruption for viewers,” explains Neil MacDonald, Chief Executive of YooMedia.

“Pokerzone will continue to provide a varied televised gambling offering, initially through pre-recorded content, though we are aiming to reintroduce some live programming on the channel as soon as possible.”
