Caravanning produces "massive boost" to local economies
The Caravan Channel TV programme and website first to reveal important new consumer spending research from the Camping and Caravanning Club.
[ClickPress, Fri Jun 01 2007] The UK's campers, caravanners and motorhome users spend an average of nearly £29 per night whilst out enjoying their recreation - and that doen't include site fees, The Caravan Channel will reveal in it's next new programme, due to air on Information TV, Sky channel 181, on the 6th June.
Nearby shops, pubs and restaurants are the main beneficiaries of this holiday spend, with toruist attractions following closely.
"This is another benefit from caravanning, camping and motorhoming - over past weeks we're started to clearly identify our green credentials, and now we can clearly see that caravan and campsites really do provide tangible benefits in their home locality," says the programme's producer and presenter, Chris Gosling.
"As well as incurring massive carbon footprints from jet travel, conventional holidaymakers take their money abroad," he added, "while the bulk of caravan travel is in our own country, so our spend contributes to our own economy, rather than other countries."
