Sponsors Upcoming Mountain Bike Adventure Ride at Wompatuck
DATELINE: HINGHAM, MA... In support of New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA), Todson, the U.S. distributors of the world-renowned Topeak cycling accessories brand and OnGuard premier lock line is co-sponsoring this year’s Mountain Bike Adventure Series fundraising rides with Harpoon Brewery. The fifth in the series of six rides, the Wompatuck State Park Ride (Hingham, Mass.), will be held on Saturday, September 10th. Registration takes place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and pre-registration is not required.
Presented by Dirt Rag Magazine, the Harpoon-Topeak Mountain Bike Adventure Series of six rides enables riders to experience some of the best mountain biking trails in all of New England in a fun atmosphere while raising money for a good cause. Proceeds from the rides provide these state parks with the additional financial support needed for upkeep and maintenance. Approximately 1,000 riders have participated in earlier rides at Lynn Woods, Great Brook Farm and Wendell State Forest, Mass., and in the White Mountains, NH.
Wompatuck State Park offers one of the most varied riding experiences in all of New England with both technical and mellow swooping single tracks throughout the park. Family loops, as well as, a number of easy and challenging optional loops are in place. And, since the Land Mine Classic, an EFTA Championship Series Mountain Bike Race is scheduled the following day, more seasoned Harpoon-Topeak series riders may take the opportunity to follow the arrows for Sunday’s race in advance.
The cost of each ride is $10 for NEMBA members and $15 for the general public. Children under 15 years old ride free when accompanied by a registered parent or guardian. For anyone who joins NEMBA at the event, the ride is free. Registration for these events is open from 9 to 11 a.m. and riding officially begins at 9 a.m.
All levels of riders are welcome to ride in this non-competitive series, and riders ride at their own pace. There are marked trails for beginners as well as for seasoned mountain bikers. Riders will have an opportunity to pick up some great Topeak bike gear or one of OnGuard’s vicious, pick-proof locks, meet bike vendors, lead rides and choose from a number of other activities. After the ride, participants may kick back with friends, family and refreshments at Harpoon’s post-event party.
