The scenes of worship will be Urs Ajmer Sharif which signifies the time when Saint Moinuddin Chishti died and is believed to have ascended to heaven to be unified with God. Urs is an Arabic term meaning marriage and the event is the anniversary of his death where people travel to his resting place. This shrine, called the dargah, is especially ornate in Ajmer and features a magnificent marble dome which sits ceremoniously on a platform of silver.

Devotees from around India and the world come to pray at the tomb to pay respect and hope for their wishes to be granted. Moinuddin Chishti is revered in India for founding Chishtiya Sufi which at its core believes in purifying the heart and focusing it on God. With several hundred thousand people heading to the area hotels Udaipur will also be highly sort after when the ceremonies begin on 2nd June 2011.

As part of this devotion a key part to the ceremonies is the qawwali singing where a dedicated poem is sung called a Badhaawa and this is followed by clapping in unison without the accompaniment of music.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "So many people in the city is going to lead to a shortage of hotel rooms and unless attendees book early enough they’ll be left without accommodation."
