FollowUs teams up to “Spot the Bull”

FollowUs (www.followus.co.uk), the UK’s leading mobile location solutions service, has teamed up with digital marketing agency Poke London (www.pokelondon.com) to provide the GPS tracking device for Orange’s “Spot the Bull” Glastonbury competition.

As part of Orange’s sponsorship of the Festival, Spot the Bull (www.spotthebull.co.uk) is a viral web game that uses FollowUs’s ‘Trimtrac’ GPS tracking device attached to Derek the Bull. As Derek moves around the field, the GPS tracking device relays its position to the website, along with four webcam images from each of the field corners. Users must guess the grid quadrant in which the bull will be standing every day at 3pm to win the Glastonbury tickets.

“We are delighted that the creatives have found a novel and entertaining use for our location device which more typically is fitted onto cars, boats, caravans, or trailers so that owners can track their whereabouts in the event of a theft.”

The product, Trimtrac, is the size of a large box of matches and is a battery powered location device. Unlike any other, is offered on a pay-as-you-go basis – meaning owners pay for maps as and when they are done – with no recurring payments or monthly subscriptions. To activate a search can cost a little as 5p – the person being able to view the location of the unit from either their PC or a WAP enabled phone.

Available from FollowUs’s online store, www.followgb.co.uk, the Trimtrac unit costs £199 (+VAT). Features of the service include:
