CONSUMER TITLES ACROSS EUROPE & MIDDLE EAST COMMIT TO BPA WORLDWIDE AUDIT

Global media auditor BPA Worldwide has added three prestigious magazine brands to its roster of consumer titles, with new additions in Greece, the Middle East and Africa.

[ClickPress, Mon Jun 11 2007] Global media auditor BPA Worldwide has added three prestigious magazine brands to its roster of consumer titles, with new additions in Greece, the Middle East and Africa.

Car magazine, which is published monthly by Optionpress under an EMAP licence, has become BPA Worldwide’s first consumer title in Greece. EMAP claims that Car is one of the most recognised and authoritative automotive titles globally, with Optionpress seeing its role as strengthening the title’s position as what it claims is the ultimate magazine for car and driving interests, combining reviews, road tests and industry news with superb photography. In addition to the UK and Greece, editions of Car are also published in Thailand, UAE, India, Mexico and South Africa.

“Our decision to become a member of BPA Worldwide will enhance our efforts to provide advertising companies, media shops and clients with precise circulation figures in each region,” explains Costas Papatriandafillou, publisher & managing director of Option Press.

“We believe that it is important for the Greek market for leading titles to be in an audit process, and anticipate seeing more publishers join soon”.

The addition of Car magazine follows the recent decision by F1 Racing Middle East, the regional edition of the global Grand Prix magazine brand published in 21 languages in more than 100 countries, to also apply for BPA Worldwide membership. Published by The Media Factory in Dubai and under licence from Haymarket Publishing in London, the magazine’s target audience includes an elite regional client base which is well informed about motor racing, educated and enjoys a high-end lifestyle.

“F1 Racing Middle East was launched in April 2004 and following the dramatic growth in interest of all things F1 - especially since the announcement of the Abu Dhabi race which will complement the Bahrain Grand Prix - it is the most sought after motor racing magazine in the region,” according to Senior Editor for F1 Racing Middle East, Damien Reid.

The third applicant is Kempinski Luxury & Lifestyle Magazine, Middle East & Africa, the magazine for guests in the Kempinski group’s Middle East and Asia hotels.

Distributed to guests and visitors at Kempinski hotels in the region, the lifestyle title includes features on travel, sport, health, culture, arts and personalities as well as first-hand reviews of Kempinski hotels and restaurants. The title is a bilingual English/Arabic magazine, also published by The Media Factory.

“Our application for BPA membership is a reflection of TMF’s commitment to transparency in distribution. This membership will act as a reassurance to our business partners, advertisers and readers of our commitment to maintaining and strengthening our position in the market,” said Andrea Slater, The Media Factory’s Managing Director.

“The addition of these titles to the BPA roster will provide advertisers with added confidence in their media decision making. In the case of F1 Racing Middle East and Car, it also underscores the important role that a circulation audit plays as an independent quality benchmark between an international licensor and its regional franchisee,” noted Stuart Wilkinson, BPA’s Director EMEA.

All three magazines will have 12 months to complete their initial circulation audit.

Ends.
