[ClickPress, Mon Jun 18 2007] PRC Community Care, the department of PRC that supports local charities and corporate citizenship, proudly announced today that its 14,000 employees collected over 27,000 canned goods and other non-perishable food for local charity organizations across the nation. Recipients of the food drive included the North Texas Food Bank, Broward County Salvation Army Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank and the Huntington, West Virginia Food Bank.
The Community Care Spring Food Drive is quickly becoming a tradition for the company. In 2006, PRC Community Care collected an impressive 11,000 canned goods and non-perishable food items.
“This is the fourth year that PRC Community Care has organized its employees to donate canned food for the needy and hungry and we easily surpassed our goals,” said Alicia Miyares, PRC’s Vice President of Marketing. “We are so proud of our employees’ spirit of giving back to the communities where we live and work.”
PRC Community Care researched and found out what types of food items were needed the most and stressed that to their employees. PRC Team Members participated in canned food scavenger hunts, held special ‘Casual for a Cause’ days, and competed in contests to see which team could collect the most food items. PRC Community Care collected the thousands of canned food donations from their many locations across the United States, all delivered to local agencies for distribution.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the employees of PRC who participated in the food drive for The Salvation Army,” said Sally Gress, Director of Development for Broward County Salvation Army. “Traditionally, we collect lots of food during the holidays and then as summer approaches, our supplies run low. This huge donation will go a long way towards helping us feed a lot of hungry people during the summer months.”
