Play in the John Aldridge Charity Golf Classic 2007 – & Watch the Portugal Masters

Golfers can tee up for the sixth annual John Aldridge Charity Classic in the Algarve alongside celebrities from the worlds of sport and entertainment and also watch the 2007 Portugal Masters

[ClickPress, Tue Jun 19 2007] Amateur golfers are being offered the chance to play in the sixth annual John Aldridge Charity Golf Classic, being hosted on the renowned Oceānico Millennium and Oceānico Laguna courses at Vilamoura, the Algarve, from 18 - 22 October 2007.

The four-night break also includes entrance on three days to watch the 2007 Portugal Masters, being played on the Oceānico Victoria course, which is set to see some of the top names in golf battle it out for a €3million prize fund.

Sponsored by the Oceānico Group and hosted by ex-Liverpool footballer John Aldridge, the John Aldridge Charity Golf Classic has raised over €100,000 for good causes in the UK, Portugal and Ireland since it was first played in 2001.

This year’s event is set to be the most successful yet, combining friendly competition on top courses with the 2007 Portugal Masters, all alongside celebrities from the worlds of sport and entertainment.

Commenting on the event, John Aldridge said: “The Charity Classic is a fantastic experience, and this year we’re lucky enough to be hosting it at the same time as the Portugal Masters is being played on an Oceānico course nearby, so the pros can show us how it should be done. The weather should be perfect for golf, the courses are in top condition and the atmosphere is friendly - although always with a competitive hint in the air!

“The event is open to all amateur golfers and we’re hoping that this year’s event will be the most successful to date, raising much needed funds for charities in the UK, Portugal and Ireland.”

The John Aldridge Charity Golf Classic is played in teams of four – three amateurs joined by a celebrity* - as Individual Stableford and Team Better Ball, with tee times between 8 – 9am on 19 and 20 October. Morning play is followed by lunch in the John Aldridge hospitality tent at the Victoria course, before watching the Portugal Masters in the afternoons. The 21st October is spent watching the final round of the Portugal Masters 2007, before returning home on 22nd October.

The John Aldridge Charity Golf Classic break costs €3,450 per team of three, or €1,150 per person, including four-nights accommodation and breakfast at the 4-star Vile Gale Ampalius & Marina hotels in Vilamoura; return bus transfers from the hotel to the golf courses daily; two rounds of golf; lunch on three days; welcome dinner, prize giving dinner; a donation to charity; flights from UK or Ireland and airport transfers. Packages which include flights must be booked and paid for before 15th July 2007, alternatively for those preferring to make their own travel arrangements, package prices are available not including flights.
