[ClickPress, Thu Jun 21 2007] The world’s first Hindi portal Webdunia.com (www.webdunia.com) has recently added five new languages in its bouquet and is now available in nine Indian languages with new attractions and layout. Responding to the much awaited demand of the users, Webdunia has also revamped its four existing portals and now offering services in Unicode for all 9 languages. Its other popular services like e-mail, search, greeting cards etc. are also further customized for Indian languages. It’s new refreshing and user friendly look and feel has already started attracting huge traffic.
Webdunia initiated its remarkable journey in 1999 with portals in four languages- Hindi (hindi.webdunia.com), Tamil (tamil.webdunia.com), Malayalam (Malayalam.webdunia.com) and Telugu (telugu.webdunia.com). In the course of its journey Webdunia got huge response from the Indian people spread across the world. This encouragement led Webdunia to launch five new portals in Marathi (marathi.webdunia.com), Gujarati (gujarati.webdunia.com), Bengali (bengali.webdunia.com), Punjabi (Punjabi.webdunia.com) and Kannada (kannada.webdunia.com) languages.
Announcing this launch, Webdunia CEO, Mr. Vinay Chhajalani said, - “We have always believed in our vision and mission of taking IT to masses through languages and this is an attempt to take another big leap in this direction.”
The new look and feel of Webdunia portals is entirely different than the previous one. Earlier, the content on portal was in true type fonts whereas now it is available in Unicode. This way, Webdunia will have a wider reach and will be more and more searchable. The appreciation and positive feedbacks of readers strengthened our belief and zest that we planned for this new appearance.
Through Unicode font, all the portals of Webdunia are now more approachable for various search engines. Also, the multi-lingual search facility of Webdunia helps users to search the content in their mother tongue. At present this search is for content available within 9 language portals of Webdunia, however soon it will be enabled for World Wide Web.
Commenting on the new avataar, Webdunia President and COO, Mr. Pankaj Jain said – “This is just the beginning, our commitment to users of net in Indian languages is much bigger. There is much more to come on both, content and the technical features front.”
Webdunia’s hugely popular and first multi lingual mailing solution ‘E-Patra’ is now known as ‘Webdunia Mail’ and now users will be able to create their e-mail IDs with the domain name ‘webdunia.com’. Webdunia mail service facilitates users to send or receive the messages in their mother tongue.
A lot of efforts are made for the novel and enticing look of Greeting Cards section of the portal. There is much to choose and doo with e-greetings section of Webdunia, which was know as kamna cards earlier.
The Photo Gallery of Webdunia is always appreciated and encouraged by our viewers. We have also tried to make this gallery more beautiful and elegant. ‘Webdunia- Bahas’ is also made more user-friendly to our readers. Through this facility, our readers can post their opinion and views on burning issues so that they can be shared with other people.
Looking at the excellent success of existing portals the day is not so far when Webdunia will be available in all Indian languages.
Webdunia is the only portal which is providing all kind of quality content to the people of different religion, culture and age group.
Channels of Webdunia like Bollywood, Life-Style, Religion, Science, IT, Career, Astrology, Literature, etc. have made their significant presence among the users. Live cricket commentary, ticker and Webdunia Poll are some other major highlights of Webdunia language portals.
