Treachery Assured at Medieval Festival!

The Bodelwyddan Medieval Festival is delighted that Lord Thomas Stanley's Retinue will be joining them - however, as the 15th Centuries most notorious "turn-coats" it is anybody's guess whose side they will fight on.

[ClickPress, Thu Jun 21 2007] The Bodelwyddan Medieval Festival being staged over the weekend of August 11th and 12th at Bodelwyddan Castle near Rhyl in North Wales has added yet another leading medieval re-enactment group to the impressive line up.

The latest addition is Lord Thomas Stanley's Retinue, who depict the household of the War of the Roses most notorious turn-coat, who managed to change sides to ensure he was always supporting the winner. This happened not just once, but on several occasions, with LOrd Thomas Stanley always on the King's side, whether that be Henry VI, Edward IV, Henry VI (again), Edward IV (again), Richard III, or eventually Henry Tudor, a decision made on the battlefield at Bosworth, where the Stanleys weighed in with the Tudors against Richard III, helping put Henry VII on the throne and being rewarded with the title Earl of Derby. Nice work if you can keep your head....

The Stanleys join The Companions of the Crow, The Poor Knights of St. Dysmas, The Medieval Combat Society, The Order of Fighting Knights, The Dogs of War, The Freemen of Gwent, the Marcher Freemen, the Ardudwy Knights, Teulu, Drudion, God's Company of Tabor, THe Knights of Honour, and sword fighting display team Merlet from the Czech Republic at what promises to be the largest Medieval Festival in North Wales.

It also features the Scrapheap Challenge Roadshow 2007, with contestants bringing along Giant Archery Machines.
