[ClickPress, Tue Jun 26 2007] England will go smoke free on Sunday with smoking banned in virtually all public places. But if you haven’t yet kicked the habit and don’t relish the thought of standing outside in the cold winter months, Westen Log Group has the solution.
The Port Talbot company has designed a smoking room alternative called the Smokeola, made entirely from logs felled in renewable forests. The innovative timber building provides smokers with a sheltered outdoor location to smoke and will be affixed to cafes, restaurants, pubs and other relevant leisure venues.
Renewable Resources
The Smokeola is on sale to leisure providers and is designed to ensure their non-smoking clientele can continue to enjoy the facilities in a non-smoky environment. For smokers in the new smoke free England, the timber building is a perfect compromise.
Providing a pleasant location outside in which to smoke, the circular open sided timber construction has a retractable awning that extends automatically when it rains and retracts if the wind gets too high and there is a danger of damage.
Justin Lewis, Group Sales Director for the Western Log Group said: “The Smokeola is a more durable alternative to a gazebo or marquee and can be a permanent or temporary addition to public buildings. The smoking ban represents a challenge for leisure providers but we believe this fire retardant and aesthetically pleasing smoking room is a perfect solution.”
Custom Design
The Smokeola smoking room is available in a variety of sizes and can be custom designed to fit with the intended location. Western Log Group offers a variety of delivery options, installing the smoking room in a day or proving all materials for the clients own construction at a later date.
From 1st July 2007, almost all all enclosed public places and workplaces in England will become designated smoke free zones. The law follows in the footsteps of similar public smoking bans across Europe and is intended to protect the public form the harmful effects of second hand smoke. Indoor smoking rooms will no longer be allowed and all smoking facilities on public transport de-commissioned.
Non compliance with the indoor smoking laws will be a criminal offense, making new designated outdoor smoking areas a necessity for many restaurants, bars, pubs and other public venues. The Western Log Group Smokeola has been designed to comply with new ‘non-substantially enclosed’ guidelines for outdoor smoking venues. Premises are considered 'substantially enclosed' if they have a ceiling or roof, but have an opening in the walls, which is less than half the total area of the walls. The area of the opening does not include doors, windows or any other fittings that can be opened or shut.
