London investment bankers earn the most and work the most
[ClickPress, Wed Jul 11 2007] When and if the rain finally stops, there’s little chance the City’s investment banking community will be taking in the sun this summer.
A new poll by eFinancialCareers.com, the UK-based global financial careers website suggests over 40% of City bankers work an average of 55 hours or more each week; 20% work 65 hours plus.
While UK-based investment bankers are some of the best paid globally, there are indications that they also put in the longest hours. In Italy, for example, only 26.7% of bankers regularly slave for more than 55 hours a week, and in Dubai nearly 25% work 35 hours a week or less.
Sarah Butcher, Editor of eFinancialCareers.com said:
“Come bonus time, banking may seem an appealing career, but people tend to forget the enormous time-commitment that goes into earning those payouts. Big money increasingly means big sacrifices - and that’s truer in the UK than anywhere else.”

The eFinancialCareers.com poll was conducted via the company’s website over a 2 week period from 8th – 22nd June 2007, polling over 3000 people.
