Complaints handling special interest group announced for financial firms
The Financial Services Discussion Club has launched a complaints handling special interest group for financial services firms.
[ClickPress, Fri Jul 13 2007] The Financial Services Discussion Club has launched a complaints handling special interest group for financial services firms.
Meetings will take place in London and Manchester giving members the chance to benchmark against other firms, exchange ideas and resolve issues. The sessions are chaired by an independent consultant and run under the Chatham House rule to encourage open debate.
The club has been set up partly in response to a renewed focus from the media and the Financial Services Authority on complaints handling within financial firms. The FSA's latest communication, Policy Statement 07/09: Treating Complainants Fairly, highlights the changing approach demanded of the industry and the role of principles-based regulation in the complaints handling process.
Richard Walbach from Clearconcepts said,
“We had a lot of interest from the industry in this subject and it is second only to MiFID in its popularity as a discussion topic. The complaints handling discussion group will be complimenting some of the work of the industry associations, offering members from different financial services sectors an opportunity to discuss common issues.“
