LOS ANGELES — "These are small and medium size business nightmares of which no one likes to receive in their email," said CEO Andrew H. Te, PowWeb, Inc (www.PowWeb.com), a Los Angeles global hosting company serving small and medium businesses. "Spyware, malware and adware creates headaches for Internet users and business everywhere, which is why we have partnerd with SpamCop (www.SpamCop.net)."

SpamCop is the premier web-based service for reporting and blocking spam, founded in 1998 by Julian Haight. SpamCop processes more than one million spam complaints a day and is supported by hundreds of thousands of users, a knowledgeable volunteer community, and a professional staff. SpamCop offers free spam reporting service to Internet Service Providers and regularly posts the top 24 most block URL’s and updates its site by the hour.

"Spam is unsolicited bulk email," explained James Moser, chief technical officer (CTO), PowWeb, Inc. "Not all bulk email is spam. Not all commercial email is spam. Email must be unsolicited and bulk in order to be spam. Unsolicited email is email the recipient did not (explicitly or implicitly) agree to receive. If the recipient agreed to receive it, then it is not spam."

Moser noted that PowWeb gave SpamCop a server and mirror for all of their servers they have for blacklists, which is a list of IP providers URL providers where spammers have sent unsolicited email blasts to unknown recipients.

"Basically our partnership benefits both companies," said Moser. "It allows our email server to query the SpamCop blacklists on our internal servers, so our mail service can process email quicker for PowWeb customers. And it benefits SpamCop, because PowWeb is providing more resources and taking on some of the load."

Based around easy-to-use webmail, SpamCop email supports advanced features like IMAP and configurable blocking lists. "Spam and junk email wastes a lot of clients’ valuable time, when they really need to be concentrating on their business demands and customers," said Te.

PowWeb recently relaunched its website and donated half of its proceeds of the first month charge for every new web hosting customer, contributing $6,000 to Childrens Hopsital Los Angeles cancer research.

"We believe it’s critical for companies to give back to the community, and we hope this sparks an interest from the businesses we host and other Internet companies to become good corporate citizens," said Te.

Childrens Hospital Los Angeles is the only hospital in Greater Los Angeles affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network, an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for pediatric hospitals throughout North America.

In Celebration of the new year and PowWeb’s relaunch of its website, the "Zero Down Time" hosting company continues offer six months of free hosting for people who sign up for one year, and 14-months for two years at $7.77 per month. SpamCop is one a host of services that comes with PowWeb’s hosting program.

"PowWeb, Inc has expanded its hosting disk space to 2 Gigabytes to meet the rapid increase of businesses going online," said Te. "If business owners visit www.PowWeb.com during December, we will waive a setup fee; give away a free domain name registration, free templates for business websites
(800 free templates to choose from), and five gigabytes of traffic per day, not monthly like many hosting companies offer."
