Take Care of Business at the Rugby World Cup in Bordeaux: Focus on Canada Sept. 24

Enjoy rugby. Do business. Canadian attendees of the two Rugby Canada matches in Bordeaux, France, this autumn (vs. Japan on Sept. 25, and vs. Australia on Sept. 29) can attend a series of international meetings and learn there’s more to Bordeaux than the wine.

[ClickPress, Wed Jul 25 2007] Each Canadian company will benefit from several head-to-head meetings with potential French customers or suppliers. Canadian entrepreneurs will therefore have the opportunity of assessing their potential in the Aquitaine market, building on a sustainable flow of business, or even extending their brand awareness in France.

From Sept. 10 to 28, professionals can set up visits to competitiveness clusters, research centres, and other technological sites working with aerospace/defence, biotech, food processing, information and communication technology, optics/lasers, and more. A business centre and the “Invest in Bordeaux” informational booth will also be available.

The Aquitaine region, one of the top three regions in France for capital investment, offers a number of assets including attractive costs, an organized network of economic partners, and strong public aid to support business creation. This region, renowned for its culture and history as well as sport, benefits from an international airport and sea port, making it a perfect logistic connection to the rest of the world.

Canada is the number-ten supplier to the Aquitaine. Several Canadian companies have already set up in the region including Alcan Packaging Capsules, Ekem, Tembec, and Vermilion. About 650 businesses are working with Canada, 207 of which from the Gironde department (which includes the city of Bordeaux) alone.

Associated partners:
Bordeaux-Gironde Economic Development Agency
Local coordination committee
Entrepreneurs’ club
City of Bordeaux
Town of Lormont
Ubifrance, the French agency for international business development
Wexport Club Bordeaux

The international meetings will also take place in Paris on Sept. 26 and 27 and in Strasbourg from Sept. 27 to 29.
