Varlink becomes first UK distributor for Bluebird Scanning PDAs

York based Mobile Computing and Data Capture distribution specialist Varlink has announced a further expansion to their product range. Varlink is now stocking Pidion products through Bluebird Soft Inc., their Korean PDA manufacturer. The relationship between both companies has been more than a year in the making following an initial meeting at Cebit 2006.

[ClickPress, Fri Jul 27 2007] Mike Pullon, Varlink’s MD commented on this latest promising distribution agreement: “We believe that Bluebird’s Pidion range of handheld terminals includes some outstanding products that will meet a wide number of end user applications. Our initial product introduction is of the BIP-5000-5, a Windows Mobile 5, SIM card ready, rugged PDA with integrated laser scanner and camera which is manufactured to meet IP54 standards. We will also be stocking a range of accessories including a vehicle mounting kit with GPS module”.

Jenny Lee, Bluebird’s Overseas Sales Manager explained: “We are delighted to welcome Varlink as our new distribution partner. Varlink has grown to be a very influential mobile computing distributor in the UK. We have found their approach to product selections extremely positive and reassuring as the technology they distribute allows a growing number of UK VARs to applications where true enterprise mobility is the key source. We feel that Varlink’s growing UK reseller channel will prove to be a potential market for our scanning PDAs”

Specifically, the ability to capture images on a screen larger than mobile phones and smartphones has been identified as a much needed feature, alongside GPRS functionality and barcode scanning. The Bluebird BIP-5000-5 is rugged yet light and compact, whilst offering GPRS+GPS, 1D and 2D scanning, a large 3” screen as well as a camera. As such, it ticks all the right boxes for our VARs. We anticipate it to be a real winner. Less than a week after the product launch, its reception has been extremely positive and we have already sent out a number of evaluation units.”
