Dorothy Perkins launches 2nd Woodland Trust collection

Following the fantastic success of the initial Woodland Trust range ‘festival kit’ collection, Dorothy Perkins continues to raise awareness and funds for the Woodland Trust with exciting new designs and an updated range of nature-inspired fashion for late summer.

[ClickPress, Fri Aug 10 2007] The exclusive range comprises of two vests, two t-shirts, two smock t-shirts, three shopper bags and two styles of printed flip flops, with prices starting at just £8. £5 from the sale of the t-shirts and vests and £1.50 from the flip flops and shopper bags will go direct to the charity. Every £5 raised plants a tree.

Each piece has been uniquely designed by the Dorothy Perkins design team, featuring unique squirrel, leaf, tree and acorn motifs and the charity’s signature slogan, ‘Plant More Trees’. The cotton in the t-shirt and vests is 100% organic, having been grown without the use of pesticides or genetically modified seed and has been ripened by the sun in a natural environment.

Sue Holden, Chief Executive of the Woodland Trust, said, ‘As Dorothy Perkins dress the nation, we dress the countryside and it’s looking rather bare at the moment with fewer trees than our European neighbours. This new collection is a great way to do something about it. The Spring collection funded the planting of 40,000 trees and there are now some very well-dressed women around who are not only on trend, but right on message!’

Trees are crucial to life on our planet - they generate oxygen, store carbon, stabilise the soil, are home to wildlife and are a stunning part of our landscape. The UK is one of the least wooded countries in Europe, with only 12% cover. The European average is 46%. Over 50% of ancient woodland that remained in the 1930s has been lost or damaged.

The Woodland Trust cares for 50,000 acres of woodland in the UK and plants more than 500,000 new native trees each year. It campaigns to raise the profile of the threat posed to woodland and wildlife by climate change. The charity also calls for no further loss of ancient woodland and challenges adverse planning decisions.

The Woodland Trust range will be available at www.dorothyperkins.com from mid August 2007. Please call 0845 121 4515 to locate your nearest store.
