Essex "secret waterway" features on TV show


The Chelmer & Blackwater Canal, known as the secret waterway of Essex, features on tonight's new edition of the UK Boating TV show on Sky 167.


[ClickPress, Wed Aug 15 2007] The second edition of UK Boating, the latest programme from specialist producer Serious Leisure TV, premieres on Information TV, Sky channel 167 at 6.30 tonight.

The programme contains the first part of a major report on the Chelmer & Blackwater Canal, known as Essex' secret waterway, which runs from Chelmsford to Heybridge Basin near Maldon.

During the programme, there are interviews with a trip boat operator, and Hugh Turner, a member of the management team at Essex Waterways Ltd., who operate the canal.

The show also features rare coverage of coastal yacht racing (Shrimper 19's at Felixstowe Ferry) and an interview with champion windsurfer, Keith Atkinson.

UK Boating is broadcast at 6.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and at 12.30 on Sunday, Sky Channel 167, Information TV. It has an associated website at www.uk-boating.tv
